About Art/Engage

Art/ Engage is a social services organization that presents art appreciation and art making classes to people of all ages and abilities. Programs are conducted virtually, or in person at senior centers, hospice homes, adult day centers, and facilities that offer after school programs. Intensive one:one support is also available for home bound individuals.

The mission of Art/Engage is to foster meaningful exchanges using art mediums as a bridge for communication. Participants explore some of the world's most famous masterpieces and experience these works using multi-sensory tools.

The two primary goals of Art/Engage are:

  • To become a leader of research-based art appreciation programs for individuals of all abilities that encourage critical thinking as well as oral and artistic expression.

  • To enrich the individual's quality of life by creating a nurturing environment for creativity to flourish and family members and caregivers to also participate in the sessions.

About Jennifer Droblyen, Founder/ Executive Director, Art/Engage

Jennifer has 25 years of experience as an educator working in informal museum, experiential, and formal classroom settings. Jennifer has a bachelor's degree in painting and art therapy from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio, and received her master's degree in education and human development from George Washington University in 2004 while working as a special education teacher in the Washington, DC public school system. Jennifer has four years of museum education experience, most recently at The Phillips Collection where she trained docents and developed and implemented school tours and family workshops. At the Bruce Museum of Arts and Science in Greenwich, CT, Jennifer worked to create educational programs for individuals with disabilities and senior audiences. It was there as she created an outreach program for homebound seniors and discovered a great need for meaningful art programs presented in the home. Taking this idea to the Washington DC area, she founded Art/Engage in 2007. In addition to her work with Art/Engage, Jennifer also works as a Community Arts Programmer for Arlington County Parks and Recreation.
